Keeping your hair "STELLAR" - Post Beach

Can you believe the beach season is already here?

I'm pretty sure that the department stores are busy with people shopping for seasonal stuff like...bathing suits, sun block, tanning lotion, flip-flops etc.

Many times, investing in great hair products slip our busy little minds. You know the part of the department store that we forget about?...yeah, the tiny little hair care section walk pass fragrances, to the right of accessories and right before the stock room that has a sign on the door that says "Employees Only"? Remember now? Smile

The haircare area in most department stores have a great selection of products. Usually you can find products from very reputable companies. Ask your beauty advisor for samples. Most times they are more than willing.

In case you didn't know, Each of our hair strands is composed of a cuticle surrounding and protecting the cortex. Our hair produces a natural lubricant called sebum which protects and moistens hair cuticles. The sebum gives the cortex an added layer of protection. Chlorine, draws the lubricating sebum from the hair leaving it super dry and brittle. The same goes for Sea Salt. These two pals can leave you wondering if its time for a relaxer, perm or even a new hair color even though you just had one last week!

Recommended products for keeping your hair in "STELLAR" shape after fun in a pool or at the beach:

Conditioning shampoo and conditioners - A MUST for post chlorine/salt water hair. For very dry hair try using Kerastase oil treatment

Moroccan Oil is great for distressed hair. This product will not weigh your hair down or have it feeling extra oily.

Leave-in conditioner - Kiehl's works great on most hair types. After applying a leave-in conditioner you can either air dry or blow dry your hair.

Gorgeous Beach hair tips!

Pre-condition your hair with a little leave-in conditioner. Carry a mini blow dryer with you to seal those beach waves/curls in place!

"Beauty and the Pollen"

OMG!  What is all that green stuff outside? No one told me that when the Grinch sneezes he sneezes pollen!  ‘Tis the season...for sneezing?!   Just call it March Madness...

Pollen in Atlanta has exploded this month . The traditional pollen scale reaches a maximum of 500. You ready for this?... Within the last couple weeks pollen counts have reached highs of 8,000 and 9,000! Many are asking, what in the "Pollen" is going on?

Just look at the cars on the road--  they all have a dusting of green!

Well, ladies, think your car is suffering?  Let’s talk about your face!   There’s nothing more frustrating than spending 30 minutes in the morning on make-up, only to have a fit of a’choos turn your flawless face into a sniffling, sneezing, runny-eyed, itchy mess!

Now is really a good time to refresh (and de-green) your make up bag!

3 new items to add to your everyday makeup bag during a pollen outburst:

  • A large round powder puff - This will help touch up the area of your nose that you just rubbed the foundation off of after spending your sweet time getting it just right! A large powder puff will not leave any streaky marks.

  • Waterproof mascara- Itch away! Runny eyes? No problem! Once you have applied your favorite waterproof mascara, I can assure you that it will go NO WHERE!!!

  • Tinted lip conditioner with SPF- Nasal congestion will cause you to breathe through your mouth, which in return will result in chapped lips. Keep them moisturized as much as possible!
Pretty in Pollen Beauty Tips:Use minimal foundation during pollen outbursts. This way when it's time to touch-up your makeup, it will be easier to blend the spot on your nose.
Keep eye drops in your purse for a quick fix when you need to DE-red your peepers!
